We woke up after a nice sleep in and walked to brunch, where we sat at this bar facing the street and enjoyed Frappuccinos and more sophisticated brunch food than we were used to on this trip. We then went back to the hostel and lounged by the rooftop pool before walking around again in the early evening. It was a beautiful chill day in Barça!
For our last night in Barcelona, we went to old town for late night tapas and sangria. We never got tired of it! The restaurant we chose ended up turning into a club in the basement where we met some fun characters. We then went around to some bars and pubs on La Rambla, just wandering around. It was sad to spend our last night in St. Jordi Rock Palace!
The next morning we had to check out of our hostel pretty early which was a bit brutal after just a few hours of sleep. We locked our bags up and still powered through a walk to La Sagrada Familia! I had never seen it, and the Gaudi architecture really does take your breath away. I’m glad we squeezed it in since it’s such a Barcelona classic. After that, we headed to the train station to catch our train to Madrid. It was direct and went super quick, just 2 hours while we napped and listened to music.
After a nap at our new hostel, we were feeling slightly rejuvenated and went out for dinner! We found some amazing empanadas and tortilla, and then went for a walk. We walked around after dinner, showing Frenchie Plaza Mayor. I immediately felt content in Madrid; my second visit here cemented the fact that it’s one of my favorite cities ever!
I didn’t know it at the time, but this was my last day out and about in Madrid, as I got absolutely destroyed by strep!! And, Frenchie had to change her flight home because she lost her passport in France. We were kind of a mess! Anyways, we spent the day well with some frozen yogurt and shopping and wandering around. This night, we ended up at one of the most exclusive Madrid clubs called Teatro Kapital, where we weren’t sure we would even get in. It was five stories and so cool, until I spiked a fever on the dance floor…
